Questions before beginning

A few things you may be wondering.

I’m not sure what I need. Can I still book a session?

Yes. You don't need to arrive with a diagnosis, a clearly defined problem, or even a specific goal.

Sometimes we begin with a recurring difficulty; sometimes with a bodily sensation, a dream, a decision, or simply a sense that something wants attention. Part of the work is discovering where the useful entry point is.

What actually happens in a session?

There isn't a fixed sequence. We usually begin with what is present and relevant that day.

We may talk. We may slow down and notice something happening in the body. A dream or image may become an entry point. There might be small movements, experiments with attention, breath or voice.

The session is responsive rather than protocol-driven: we follow what seems most alive and workable, without forcing an experience or predetermined outcome.

I understand myself very well intellectually. What would this work add?

Insight can be enormously valuable, but understanding something is not always the same as being able to live differently.

Our work may include sensation, movement, imagery, dreams, voice and attention—ways of noticing information that isn't always available through analysis alone. The aim isn't to think less, but to bring more of yourself into the conversation.

What if I’m not very aware of my body?

That's completely workable. You don't need to be good at sensing your body before beginning somatic work.

We might start with something very simple: pressure against a chair, the movement of breathing, temperature, effort, an impulse to move—or even the experience of not knowing. There is no correct bodily experience you are expected to produce.

How do I know which practitioner or approach to choose?

You don't need to choose a modality before you begin.

Different practitioners bring different areas of experience and ways of working. Use the practitioner profiles as a starting point, or book a consultation if you're unsure. We can help you find an appropriate entry point based on what you're bringing and how you prefer to work.

My life works well on the outside. Do I need to have a “problem” to work with you?

No. Some people come because something is painful or clearly stuck. Others come at a point of transition, expansion or increasing responsibility.

You might be navigating a consequential decision, a creative threshold, changing relationships, leadership, visibility, or simply noticing that ways of operating that once worked no longer quite fit.

The work doesn't require you to turn your experience into a pathology before it deserves attention.

Can the work be tailored to me rather than following a fixed programme?

Yes. 1:1 work is intentionally responsive.

Rather than placing everyone through the same sequence, we work with your particular ways of perceiving, current circumstances and the questions that matter to you. Depending on the practitioner and what emerges, the work may draw from somatic awareness, movement, imagery, dreams, voice, creative practice or conversation.

How private is the work?

Privacy and discretion are taken seriously. Personal material from sessions is not used publicly without explicit permission. Please see our Privacy Policy for how personal information is handled, or contact us if you have a specific question before beginning.

Not sure where to begin?

Start with a conversation.

You do not need to choose the right practitioner or programme before we speak. That is part of what the consultation is for.
